Don and Janet Summit are parents of 10 children. For many years Janet has taught classes to various groups and individuals about emotions. Don and Janet are now beginning to work together to teach others, for they have learned for themselves how important understanding our emotions can be.
Don is in the National Guard, and spent 14 months in Iraq. He understands how important this subject is to soldiers (and their families). He teaches a practical, no-nonsense approach to understanding emotions. He challenges the idea that having emotions make us weak. He speaks to men in particular, demonstrating to them that resolving emotions makes sense, and is necessary.
Janet enjoys being at home with her children, and that keeps her very busy. She has had much experience with emotion! She has learned from experience that boys and girls deal with emotions in very different ways. She tries to help her children understand that they are responsible for their own feelings, and accountable for the actions associated with them!
Janet does cranial sacral therapy, and understands that emotions do indeed lodge in the body. She knows that at some point every emotion we feel has an impact on us.
Janet enjoys writing and reading. She is currently finishing her book, “The Martha Principle.” The story of Mary and Martha in the New Testament teaches us many things about our emotions. Jesus powerfully taught Martha how to find peace in her heart. It’s a message that Janet shares with a lot of enthusiasm.
Don and Janet have been married for 27 years. They have found that using “principles of emotions” to solve problems has helped in every single situation, even those where their individual opinions have been drastically different. Using principles provides freedom for people to be heard and understood, and then they can work together to find solutions.
DISCLAIMER: Neither Don nor Janet have any training or certification as mental health professionals. Their sole purpose is to teach. They teach what feelings are and why they are so important to our actions. They invite everyone to learn about themselves as they understand what they feel and what they think. They stress that peace comes through understanding feelings, and that people are empowered as they understand these principles.
Don and Janet encourage everyone to learn so that they will be able to make decisions and choose how they want to proceed, regardless of individual circumstance. You are welcome to use the blog to ask questions and discuss the principles.
